terranova are hardly a new name on the scene. fetisch, its leader has lived on the international nightlife circuit since punk took over london. remember lcd soundsystems >losing my edge<? well, he was there. and he is still hungry. heralding the new terranova album (out early 2012), this double-headed single has classic written all over it. >i wanna go out< is an acid house anthem of the highest caliber, an ode to nightlife, a possibel mantra for all of us. >take my hand< features khan on vocals and takes you down a darker road. its clanging metallic percussions makes us think of einstuerzende neubauten in bed with herberts radioboy/wishmountain project. its deep, its good and it leaves us craving for more... welcome on board: terranova!

montreal imprint swing and skip drops its second 12 inch, featuring tracks from hotly tipped manchester producer damu, label head hgldt, and producer resketch on the remix duties. riding high from much media attention, serious dj support, and killer releases on local action and keysound approaching boiling point about now, damu grabs the headlines with >2010<, a deep funky roller combining the producers trademark mix of house, garage and eski influences. s&s captain hgldt delivers >knowing you< on the flip, a smooth and melodic house-x-garage jam supported by many, first on the list since months back being dusk & blackdown. finally, resketch follows up from his recent well rounded 12 inch with a remix of >knowing you<, going in for a deep and heavy garage-meets-dub techno hybrid.

djing and producing together since 2005, deep space orchestra (chris barker and si murray) have releases on a number of heavyweight labels and regular guest appearances at club nights and radio shows throughout the uk and rest of the world. recent highlights include being asked to record a guest mix for gilles petersons highly influential worldwide show and an upcoming mix for michael ruettens soulsearching show. they also run the use of weapons record label, which, although only two releases old, is already gathering much praise. deep space orchestra releases appear on delusions of grandeur, art, winding road, home taping is killing music, use of weapons and soon instruments of rapture, drumpoet community or tracky bottoms too. yes, these guys are hot!

needing little introduction, london based producer roof light has been making big waves on the underground garage/post-dubstep scene since his groundbreaking debut >in your hands< ep for styrax some 21 months ago.
since then his resume has somewhat multiplied, with a string of releases on esteemed labels such as millions of moments, prolific, l2s, and highpoint lowlife to name a few. continuing on with this impressive run, roof light is poised to drop the fittingly titled >on the third< ep for phuture shock musik this summer.

12 inch with 1 new quehenberger original (uffuff) and a trio of near remixes from his latest album hazard (released as laton 047 in 2009). patrick pulsinger tackles new beat, in his unique future funk sound. a welcome return of elin (who hasnt been on a mego record since 1995, check mego 003). he slurps out a version of hey gert, making it into an slamming slowed down twister of a track. this leaves the pumping excess of altroys (minimal sould) keep talking remix.

last year has been a little more quiet about dem birds but since they landed in their new studio the output is back where it should be. the demand for lovebirds is higher than ever especially after his current deephouse bomb featuring stee downes beautiful vocals on >want you in my soul< (winding road). the honeybadger ep referrs to the most badass animal on this planet. it simply doesnt give a shit about anything. and this is something lovebirds can relate to very well. should we also talk about music? well, maybe … >chasing things< is a deephouse peaktime funkmonster. its full on lovebirds sound - deephouse u can seriously party to and loose your cool. no 808 bassdrums either!! >running backwards< is a slick midtempo rat with some pretty badass drums and a kenny >fuckin< powers bassline that actually deserves the name, bitch! not to mention the heavenly breakdown with some of the smoothest guitars in this universe! last part of this heavy threesome is called >gives a shit< and is a nice oldskool tune with a heavy >let no man put asunder< bassline on top of some moodyman-ish chord stabs … ah, and i think brother marvin made it also on this one!!

it is not about knowledge only, academic or otherwise, it is and has always been more about understanding each thing for what it is, what it stands for and its origins. this is definitely the case with quell, who has been a friend of the these days records since the very beginning. after the artists collaboration with argy under the these days in-house project moniker >club lonely<, this is his first personal ep for the label. drawing influences from a few distant chronologically, yet classic styles of dance music, starting from disco-flavored house all the way to friendly nods at kerri chandler, ron trent, chez damier and the earlier period of new york citys ibadan records, >perception ep< blends all of them together in a most elegant and mature way. amidst the plethora of the house music sound recent revival, quell presents a very complete and solid proposal, which shows that he adores as much as he comprehends the connections between the past, present and future of this music

when david hasselhoff was touring munich the first time, it was a fucking dynamite show. word. dario was totally into him since knight rider came onto german tv. who is cooler then kit and the hoff? nobody. fact. so this record is a tribute to darios childhood influenced by the turbo boost beyond the purple sky and hoffs outfits. hoff is just sex! the ladys melt away just hearing his name. i have been looking for love! and freedom.

collaborating in art, music and science since 1999, recently founding the label magazine and the collective cologne tape, this is nevertheless the first time barnt, crato and jens- uwe beyer appear together as one formation, simply called magazine. if you combine their recent releases - barnts stunning debut ep >what is a number, that a man may know it?<, cratos acclaimed and mysterious >30.6.1881<, j-u beyers incredible sound work on his highly respected last album (with jaki liebezeits drums off chaos) and add the cologne tape recordings you can get an idea of the formations cosmos — but you are not quite there ...

the second instalment for melbourne deepcast records sees andy hart teaming up with francis inferno orchestra to provide a heavy hitting club jam in >d2me<. on the flip we see them each doing their own thing to round off the ep. three track ep from melbournes andy hart and francis inferno orchestra. two solo jams and one heavy hitting club number. melbourne deepcast has been flying the flag for the underground house movement in melbourne and the wider dance community since its birth in 2009. with a podcast thats quickly become one of the go-to places on the interweb for your fix of carefully selected deep house, techno and disco, theres but a few ears they havent reached. casting the net even deeper, a label is born, providing a platform for the ever-growing number of talent rich producers the city has provided a home for.

as a member of chairlift, the band he co-founded in 2006 and exited in 2010, aaron pfenning pulled double (and triple) duty – playing multiple instruments, writing songs, producing, and contributing vocals for the band s major label debut. that comfort with musical multitasking – and a cache of songs he d written that didnt fit his main project – made a new solo effort seem like the natural and logical next step to take. pfenning assumed the name rewards (a moniker hes actually used since 2003), spent the better part of last year touring with we are scientists, brandon flowers and warpaint, and released three broodingly romantic singles (>i used to<, >what a loser< and the achingly beautiful >two cardinals<) that made a host of listeners take sudden notice

mystery meat is back! following a hiatus since last summer’s double-sided whammy release courtesy of nyc disco dons jacques renault and lee douglas, >pump< b/w >got to find a disco<, the top secret edits label returns with the bicep boys in tow. and what a return it is! bicep have been making serious noise over the past several months following their auspicious debut on the throne of blood label in late 2010. in the months since, theyve gone on to remix domino recordings blood orange, tal m. klein (a known associate of fellow mystery meaters nick chacona & anthony mansfield), and la upstarts cosmic kids, and their follow-up ep2 is currently doing the damage on discerning dancefloors the world over

having subtly seduced us all with their debut single, ants, london based duo elephant return with their second seven inch offering on memphis industries. french-by-way-of-pontefract chanteuse amelia rivas met christian pinchbeck back in may 2010, since when they have been quietly creating some hauntingly fragile songs with a sense of mystery and history that belies their teenage years. so side a, >allured< strips away layers, to produce a pure expression of the confusion of love (and lust). amelias disjointed lyricism speaks of anatomy and of carousels, hinting at both the poetics and mechanics of unrequited desire. and on the aa side >actors<, elephant explore the tension of attention, both the craving to be noticed and the desire to melt away into the crowd.

golden earring have been together since 1961 and the current line-up includes two founding members george kooymans (vocals and guitar) and rinus gerritsen (bass, keyboard) along with barry hay (vocals, guitar, flute and saxophone) a member since 1968 and cesar zuiderwijk (drums) a member since 1970.
they have had over 40 hits and 30 albums, many achieving either gold or platinum status in their home country, the netherlands. they are best known for their 1973 hit single >radar love< and their 1982 single >twilight zone<.
the album >contraband< was originally released in 1976. its the first album that features the former cuby and the blizzards blues guitarist eelco gelling which makes it a very guitar orientated album.

timebomb - the uxb mixes (uxb - (abbreviation) unexploded bomb) is the latest public offering from the enigmatic duo of confucius and bunny - better known as rabbit in the moon. first featured on the dolby 5.1 collection entitled awaken it has since been given select remix treatments kept very secretive until now.

canadas cobblestone jazz have established themselves as one of the most unique and inspiring bands of the past decade. thanks to their exploration of house through the eyes of a jazz improv group, their music is derived from the organic energy of the groups jam sessions and their now legendary live performances. comprised of members tyger dhula, mathew jonson, danuel tate along with newest addition the mole, cobblestone jazz are as accomplished individually as musicians and performers as they are a band - united by long term friendship, respect and passion for writing music in the moment. their decade long history of releases on iswhatitis, !k7 and wagon repair have earned the praise and long time support from the likes of gilles peterson, carl craig, luciano and sven väth. >memories (from where we are)< celebrates the first of a series of 12 inch releases that will come out on wagon repair over the course of 2011/12. the outcome of a berlin jam session last fall, the band incorporated a fender rhodes, vocoder, and sh-101 to make up the core voicing of the tracks while a cs-20 provides the drive at the end of both. in typical cobblestone jazz fashion, the track was mixed live with no prior sequencing arrangement. the session was then cut by the mole into two sublime edits - the results could be their strongest release since >dump truck<.

ok … the sad truth is we have been searching for this dat close to 6 years since rabbit in the moons david christophere and san diego native sotero finished the project. both mixes were done around winter 95 / 96. despite excitement around the label at the time, eventually the tracks fell to the wayside under the age-old excuse of >figuring out what to do with them<. meanwhile, knowing a good thing when he heard it, three made a dat copy and cut some actetates to play out. they made their way around a good portion of the earth via himself, some friends and one west coast dj who boldly vowed to just put it out on his own --- off the slate --- if we didnt get our act together. fortunately he didnt, but neither did we because both david and three misplaced the dat copies and sotero never had one!

0-visionen are kristofer ulfves and olof liliengren, two friends with a shared love of the organic sounds and the art of using analogue gear live. warm melodic electronica is blended with the harsher digital sound of murky techno into a something truely unique. 0-visionen have performed live numerous times at swedish electronica festivals and clubs ever since 2007 and now their new ep >noll< is here to set new standards. noll contains tracks that vary from analogue sequences to shuffled idm style beats with that special 0-visionen spice.

seoul community is a german based vinyl only label founded by ben anders and john lagora. the passion is to release house & techno music with heart and soul. sascha lebemann is nowadays an inherent part of frankfurts club scene. with the label waldliebe musik he placed collective productions in cases of well known artists and on ibiza global radio or ibiza sonica. finally out now sascha lebemanns track >nachts im club< on seoul community. the self written and performed text appeals the crowd and tells of playful night in the club and the atmosphere of the collective celebration. saschas sound dont know any limits - this would mean restriction for him. in his dj-set, which he performs since 6 years with vinyl and meanwhile also with cd he presents nearly every way of electronic music - thats what makes him - and fanciers or friends of past events knows that his sound reaches from an upbuilding warm up till the achievement of the total

we met fred ventura in 2006 over emails sent to italians do it better headquarters. he was one of the first people from europe to start writing the label prior to after darks release. it took us a few months to realize that this was fred ventura, the cult italo legend from milan. like a true gentleman, he had never bothered to mention it. since the early 1980s fred ventura has released numerous singles in europe & toured the world extensively as a solo artist. last year, johnny was in bologna on tour with desire & fred came out to the show to drink champagne & bring us some copies of the reissued tapes of fred’s early post punk group state of art. the lightbulb lit up & we asked him if he had any home recordings of his solo work. months later, he sent us 83 tracks of cassette recordings between 1982 & 1987. they had been sitting upstairs in a dusty box at his parents house in italy for the last 25 years. these tracks have only been heard by a handful of his closest friends. we were completely floored & honored! finding a beautiful treasure completely untouched & preserved is so rare. the songs are raw & honest written by a romantic with a love for an anthemic chorus & a drum machine running through his veins. think early minimal depeche mode with an italian heart. ornew order covering madonna produced moroder. yes, its that good. here we have the first official italians do it better release of these songs on a 4 song 12inch ep. this vinyl only release is a teaser for the >dont give up< 18 track lp out in a couple of months. so in the meantime, slip on those gucci loafers, rev up the alfa romeo and head down to the discotheque because life is too short

>the bay< is the electro quartets third single from the latest release >the english riviera<, following the release of both >she wants< and >the look<. the third studio release from the electronic stars >the english riviera< was released last april, and has since received a mass of critical acclaim from all corners of the industry. popular websites such as nme gave the latest release a rating of 9/10, with drowned in sound offering the same rating. now, fresh back from their recently sold out uk tour, the band are preparing to release the third single from the critically acclaimed album in >the bay<. defined as being one of the highlights taken from a fantastic album, >the bay< would be well placed as a future summer dancefloor classic.

hotflush presents the debut collaborative release from arkist and kidkut, both based in bristol, uk. the title track is a four to the floor deep cut, adorned with subaquatic atmospherics, warm contours of bass and subtly stirring melodies, a magnificent pairing with scuba’s imprint. on the flip side, >vanilla imitate< maintains the vibe and amps the energy with a smart infusion of shuffling uk garage flavors and emotive soundscapes. arkists solo productions have been recently released on appleblims apple pips label, if symptoms persist, and deca rhythm. kidkut is the mastermind behind the immerse records label, which has been releasing quality bass music since 2006. his solo productions can also be found on apple pips and well rounded records

a true master of the deeper arts, phonique has, since his first steps into the world of production back in the early 2000s, become synonymous with and eulogised for his beautifully cultured productions. labels such as simple, buzzin fly, souvenir and of course systematic have all played host to his music, but it s his work for steve bugs dessous imprint for which he is most renowned. first up is phoniques solo production, >2 my jungle< which sees him step into jacking tech-house territory. lovely open hi-hats are paired with the punch of the kick drum. a trumpet riff enters the fray, backed by the grooving throb of the bassline. its vocal samples are twisted and filtered throughout as phonique creates a wonderfully trippy summer anthem. on the flip he teams up with desolat badboy, guti. still riding high on the wave of support for his fantastic debut album >patio de juegos<, the argentinian producer phonique show just how much fun they can have in their electronic playground. beautifully deep and with a lush rhodes melody, >divertimento< entices us with its sultry summer vibes. a polar opposite, yet complete match to the a-side

black waves is 4 tracks of deep, dark club music. since the release of his critically acclaimed album >generation hexed<, drums of death has been obsessively developing a deeper and darker sound that is tailored for the dance-floor. black waves fuses frantic 808 drum patterns and dramatic synth lines with fresh, contemplative melodies. its music born out of its makers passion for techno and house.

the second serving from schmorgasbord brings together two relatively disparate and unrelated artists, but who both share a uniquely twisted approach to making music. s-max has been doing his thing for some time, running legendary home all things bizarre in house and techno, boogizm, and releasing a special kind of groove on labels such as telegraph, 7th city and karloff. his original track, >ms. rosen dub<, swaggers and sways with the spirit of classic yorkshire bleeps and bass. the groove is house, but the spirit of adventure is most definitely techno. his remix of spatials >corti< takes a very different approach, taking a rolling, jungle-like approach to dubstep and nailing it to the groove with stabbing bass notes. spatial leapt onto the bass music radar late 2008 with his shadowy infrasonics imprint, and quickly snapped heads with his crisp, refined approach to 2-step rhythms. since then he’s done things on his own terms, only releasing for himself and mutating his sound over a series of 10 inches. >corti< perfectly demonstrates spatials unconventional tendencies, lurching and buckling around a perfectly honed splatter of beats, off-centre synths and delirious vocal snippets. meanwhile on his remix of s-max, spatial flips the script once again with a stomping, swung techno angle that hammers the original into an uptempo, fist-pumping banger.

miles whittaker has been an integral part of the modern love label since its inception in 2002 - as one half of both pendle coven and demdike stare, as well as his own productions under the mlz and millie monikers. after almost 15 years writing music, this is the first release miles is putting out under his own name and marks a turning point of sorts in his production style, or rather, in its sequencing. the facets ep brings together different ends of his production style, unifying elements of the house and techno he s most commonly released as mlz together with the more broken production signatures usually reserved for millie and the darkened tribalism of demdike stare. flawed opens the set with a linn loop from the archives, stretched and slowed down with an intoxicated aesthetic that s somewhere between house and dub, before lustre re-configures source material originally keyed in by labelmate andy stott with a nice line in squashed percussion. primer on the flip extends from a demdike stare outtake and veers off into an analogue drum machine workout, before on the fly ends the set with a recording made straight to mixing desk from an array of mis-wired and malfunctioning drum boxes, contact microphones and samplers, over at his studio the mill earlier this year.

jon dasilva is one of the original hacienda (the manchester club) djs and was behind the decks when house exploded in the uk during the summer of love in 1988 as well as being a tour dj for new order and the haciendas usa tour in 1990. since then he has been credited for mentoring djs such as sasha and been an inspiration to laurent garnier a.o. he has also got a string of releases under his belt for labels such as soma, deconstruction, robs records and better days. check! on his debut release he teams up with vocalist donald waugh and the return to the roots of house music with >love is all we need<. together they have created a house classic that never was, reminiscent of an essential dj international release or alike. comes as full vocal and dubbed out bootleg mix. on the flip we find brailles on remix duties. fresh from his massive >the year 3000< on our direct current series, braille pushes >love is all we need< into the next century. classic feel good stuff. this is how we like our vocal house!

hallucination limited delivers a limited edition vinyl only release from none other than fellow new yorker… zev of wolf + lamb. gathered here are zevs strongest outings for the club since the brilliant >forget the world feat. beckford<. we dare say this is his best work to date with >queen of hearts< being one of the freshest takes we have heard on good ole house music this year. pushing all the right buttons, but also some most would never think to. queen of hearts feat. panu moon the initial groove instantly does what all great house does, but what follows are the contemplative vocals of a showman on the road via panu moons soft country drawl… playfully tweaked by zev adding an edge without taking away from panus croon. an unexpected techno vibe begins to ebb and flow over the groove yet it all magically stays together through the voice of a man searching for the queen of his heart. its house music with both an edge and sense of humor not unlike paperclip people, but in a vein more akin to >every now and then< by ralph falcon

cabanne just came out of the pool with this adequately named >aqua paëlla< ep. if the man needs no further introduction, it is worth noting that this will be cabannes first release on minibar since 2009. he therefore changed into his most elegant mask, snorkel and flippers to provide us with these three fantastic house tracks. traditional >à la cabanne<, just better than ever! enjoy!

in denmark, there rages a lively and experimental techno scene - and its not only a recent phenomenon. the best proof are phono and kemi, two danish imports to the berlin record label, highgrade records. the two chaps complement each other in a musically virtuoso fashion: phono, jacob thiessen, spent his childhood playing around with sequencers and drum machines: over the years he has stuck to this passion and as such, has developed a reputation as an experienced house and techno producer. kim kemi, by contrast, has been a dj since the beginning, and since the 90s has been one of the key figures in the copenhagen club scene. together they have not only performed regularly at the biggest events in denmarks capital, but have also ensured through their many releases, ever changing accents and atmospheres on the turntables. this wealth of combined musical experience can be heard instantly on their latest outing for highgrade – >decompose<. the three tracks, >decompose<, >exterminators< & >last night< assemble rhythms that come from punk, elegant voices and dizzying loops a multi-layered sound excursion. the result is a perfectly produced ep, but one that has not been ironed smooth. with the >made in denmark< seal of quality, phono and kemi bring some extra depth to the party attitude

future perfect are always putting out quality breaks music and for their 20th release leuce rhythms do the honours. these lads have been getting a lot of attention since they started back in 2003 and 2010 was a big year for them. we expect to see a lot more of them this year and watch out for their tour.

grammy nominated hannover producer martin buttrich gets down to business with this sharply delineated four track ep, his first release since his >crash test< lp on desolat. buttrich is known for his deft hand with spacious, warm tracks that crackle and snap. his propulsive techno and house music re filled with compressed living sounds. on tracks like >fireball< and >magic market<, crisp percussion shimmers around snug-fitting basslines, with snares and toms moving the speaker cones insistently. >fireball< will quietly smash the dancefloor, with rhythms so taut you could bounce nickels off them. the heavy kick of >rocket< anchors it to agitated drums slowly enveloped by a melodic soup, inflected with disrupted noises as it sweeps over the listener. >20 ways< has a reflective and fresh feel, like city lights seen through rain, with a peppy beat that swaggers along. then theres that bass again, bringing disarming warmth, and always with the underlying influences of reggae, hip hop and soul... music lovers who purchase the vinyl release will be treated to a free download voucher for all the digital versions, as well as additional bonus tracks. the 4 bonus tracks wont be available to digital-only customers at this time

new yorks dream team return with a three tracker of floor-friendly deep house and techno. mr saturday night himself eamon harkin and steve oneauff raney have been relatively quiet since the release of their >word to the wise< ep last summer, but they have been busy. in the few months since harkin & raney released their mix of corinne for on the prowl/scion av, they have been hard at work in the studio, mixing with nick chacona (mood music/wurst music company), djing, and working on solo projects coming soon on throne of blood!

the next coup by sirion records is from none other than one of the founding fathers, fedja haueter aka feodor and his fellows alex torriglia aka mo-tek and beni dossenbach aka balance. the trio, better known as vol-tek, has played a key role since the very beginnings of sirion s musical outpours and was represented in sr001 with a remix. numerous remixes and their own release sr005 - vol-tek - male & female are further to be mentioned. a part from sirion records the trio was represented at friends labels such as cristian paduraru or samy freshs augenringe records. but their next big thing is yet to come, as the threesome has been finishing tracks throughout the past year and surely need to be reckoned with in the future. the tracks after dark and conciliator are both rather deep, playful tech-house gimmicks, enriched with a bit of progressive.

for the first album ever being released on ki we invited biodub, a producer/dj from the north of germany, who impressed us with his fusion of dub, techno, electronica and is a musician throughout. bringing in his experience as the drummer of instrumental band noetics and based on a minimalistic foundation, his tracks are playful in a microscopically way. in between deep bass lines and characteristic dub chords, various sounds coming from field recording sessions and sometimes also acoustic instruments, making this piece of music extremely warm and alive. biodub tries to transform visual impressions into his music. he finds most of these impressions in nature but sometimes also in machines or buildings in connection with their environment. the album is equally comfortable on the dance floor as in the living room. but you would rather enjoy his music on an open field in the nature than on your couch. the album will be released as a full 2 x12 inch lp, and cd in folded hardcover with photography, graphic and layout coming from ki s amélie kai and since it leaves so much space for interpretation, there will be a 12 inch-single with remixes of stereociti and koi.

we present you the newly born imprint outernational recordings. the kick off for this unique vinyl series is by basque county native kastil who sets the right tone with three wonderful disco edits at a mid-tempo / slomo pace. since uploading these tracks to his soundcloud page, the feedback has been enormous. side a contains the long, slow and loopy back to philadelphia, where kastil cleverly plays with the vocals and delay and creates a highly tense build up. theres no doubt that some large players in the very popular disco edit culture will play this one out. on the b1 side you find the track smd. a track which received great feedback by some key figures on soundcloud. this track is the ultimate pre-lude for the summer. fortunately, this is being released just early enough to enjoy this during the european and northern american summer. with again beautiful vocals floating through the track, this track definitely reminds one of a hot day in the local park. the b2 track is called rolls royce. perfect as the last track of this release since its a long edit which ends with a very atmospheric piano solo that keeps on floating through the last few minutes of the track. all and all, these edits will definitely make some heads turn after the date of release. supported by: cosmic boogie, dicky trisco, the legendary 1979 orchestra, sleazy beats recordings, ben la desh, 78 edits, osvaldo wilson, mannmademusic, gitchell moore
